My newsletter, sent out once a month, is called “Brian's Old and New 🌑 🌞” with a nod to the wedding tradition for brides to have something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue about their person on the day. The Victorians, who did like to embellish, added “a sixpence in her (left) shoe”.
These tokens represent various wishes and desired qualities - like gratitude, hopes, good fortune, purity and wealth. I celebrate that these ideas can co-exist: modern and traditional. Like the digital camera and the artistry of Rembrandt, we are richer for having both; one does not invalidate the other. So many things in life are like this. ⭐️
